Dash's Empty Heart

**BEFORE you read, go to the Artist's description, please!! **

Rainbow Dash relaxed lazily on a cloud. She had just finished a spectacular performance, being a Wonderbolt and all.  She looked up at the few clouds above her, surveying their shapes. She did this quite often after a show, feeling like there was always something missing. To try and get her mind off the feeling, she bolted off the cloud into the open sky. The wind danced through her mane as she whizzed around clouds, deforming their original shapes. Up, down, left, right, in circles; it didn't matter the direction for the Pegasus.  She soon moved to one cloud after another, transforming its shape into something else. Her mind filled with thousands of thoughts, but only one bothered her most. Suddenly, she lost her once graceful connection in the sky, finding herself crashing into a meadow of grass and wildflowers. Shaking off the pain, she pondered to herself.
"What's the matter with you, Dash? You have everything!"
She looked around the meadow, taking in the tranquility. She sighed, burying her nose into a small patch of clovers.
"So why...Why do I feel like I have nothing?" her voice cracked as she spoke, while some instinct inside her told her to look back up into the sky. She gawked at the clouds, observing their shapes. Tears welled in her eyes as she began to recognize whom the clouds symbolized.
"F...Fluttershy?"
She looked at another cloud.
"Applejack?"
And two more.
"Twilight....Rarity..."
As she recognized the last cloud, she felt her heart crack.
"Pinkie..."
The face of this normally cheery pony had a sad, melancholy look.
"What have I done...?" Dash asked herself as an ocean as memories of her past life filled her mind.

"Rainbow Dash! I'm SOOO happy for you! You're finally a Wonderbolt!" Pinkie chirped.

"Oh, yes," Fluttershy said excitedly, although she seemed rather content. "Your dream has finally come true!"

"We'll all be missing' you here in Ponyville while y'all are off doing your mighty special performances," Applejack said with a somewhat sad tone.

"I just don't know why they didn't let you in sooner," Twilight Sparkle said in disbelief.

"Aw, thanks guys," Rainbow Dash said, blushing from all the attention she was getting. "I'll miss you all so much!"

Pinkie Pie, knowing that Rainbow's departure time was drawing nearer, trudged to her blue friend and nuzzled her softly. "I-I'll miss you a bunch, Dashie...," she said, her lip quivering.

Rainbow Dash frowned and gave Pinkie a hopeful look. "Don't worry, I'll visit you gu-"
Suddenly, Soarin flew up behind the group and called out to Rainbow Dash. "Hey, Dash! Time to go!"

Rainbow Dash looked back at her friends, not ready to leave. She obeyed the other pony though, and took to the sky, waving as she flew off into the clouds.

Rainbow Dash felt another memory coming on, though. A memory she regretted and wishes she could forget...

"Hey guys! Look! It's Dashie!" Pinkie yelled happily, zooming over to her old friend. The other four ponies rushed over, overjoyed to see their friend.

Rainbow Dash gave her friends a disgusted look. Backing away slowly, she spoke out to them.

"You guys mind? You're cramping my style."

They all stared, baffled at what the pony had just said.  

"But, Rainbow Dash-" Pinkie Pie objected, being cut off by the blue Pegasus.

"Listen, guys, I'm famous now! I just can't have you around anymore..." Not wanting to face her friends, she paced backwards even more. "I-I gotta go," she said as she turned and flew away quickly. The other five ponies stared, heartbroken.

Rainbow Dash brought her hoof to Her face.
"I had everything back then...Why did I give it all up?" she looked back a the sky, hoping for an answer. The sky was empty, though. The clouds disappeared into nothingness, and night was starting to take over the sky.
Rainbow Dash looked over at the forest that stood about a mile before her. She knew what was beyond that forest; but she could never go back. How could they possibly take her back?

"There's only one way to find out..."

Rainbow Dash took to the skies again, bolting towards the forest, hoping. In that moment, she had found another dream. A dream she wished would come true more than anything. Ever.
